Ozone treatment at 360 °

The first historical applications of ozone dates back to the early 900s. The treatment of gangrene and superficial infections in an era devoid of antibiotics was based on the use of this gas as it is the most powerful naturally occurring oxidizing agent and bactericide. Ozone is still the most effective way to disinfect water in swimming pools and in public hospitals.

The use of ozone therapy is well known in spinal disorders, particularly in herniated discs , disc protrusion in the lumbar, cervical or thoracic spine and canal stenosis, spinal arthritis, residual pain post surgery for herniated discs, and compression scars after previous surgery.

Ozone therapy can also be used with excellent results for conditions such as hip osteoarthritis, knee osteoarthritis, Morton’s neuroma, inflammatory and degenerative tendon conditions, rhizoarthritis, rocanteriti, the early signs of carpal tunnel syndrome, tarsal tunnel and all forms of trapped nerves e.g, trigger finger, epicondylitis, medial epicondylitis, and again in every degenerative inflammatory disease such as plantar fasciitis.

Using the Autohemotherapy technique,  also known as GAET or GrandeAutohEmoTherapy, ozone therapy is used for treating  ulcers in diabetic patients and arteriopathic patients, and also aids in the treatment of senile dry form  macular retinal degenerative disorder  and in diabetic maculopathy.

Ozone can be bubbled in demineralised water to produce ozonated water. Ozone purifies water from viruses and bacteria (it is used as a disinfectant in swimming pools to reduce the use of chlorine) accumulating within the water ozone can be used as a disinfectant for  skin lesions (ulcers, wounds, fissures) and mucosal infections using irrigation (gastritis, vaginal candidiasis).

You can use creams and oils that have undergone the ozonation process, exposing  it to the ozone will alter its structure, combining   together with the oily substrate. Over time this substrate releases  ozone helping to oxygenate the skin or mucosa on which it is smeared. This way you can treat burns, skin infections, onset of hemorrhoids, ulcers or wounds. Some creams are also typically used  for aesthetic  and anti-aging purposes.

Every pathology presents  indications, doses and methods for administration, but, only a specific diagnosis will allow the doctor to recommend the correct therapy.

Methods of administration and pathologies treated

The pathologies which can be treated with ozone therapy are numerous, similarly are the  numerous techniques by which you can administer ozone. Generally  speaking we can distinguish as follows:

1. Via infiltration

2. Autohemotherapy

3. Ozone Bag

4. Ozonated water

5. Ozonated oil

1. Ozone via infiltration

The infiltration technique represents  the most widely used  treatment for the intervertebral disc, and degenerative arthritic diseases, both vertebral  and  articular, other degenerative diseases such as tendon tendinitis and tendinosis, Ozone can also be used for cosmetic purposes in treatment for cellulite.

The infiltrative techniques are varied, each suited to specific pathologies:

                                                                                 bulging disc/spinal canal stenosis/

2. Ozone therapy through autohemotherapy

Represents the historical modality through which ozone has arrived in Italy about 35 years ago from Germany where, still  today, it  is the main system of treatment with ozone. The technique involves the removal of a small quantity of blood which is collected in a special container containing an anticoagulant. Subsequently the blood is put into contact with a mixture of Oxygen-Ozone. After about two minutes the blood undergoes a series of biochemical changes and is then reinfused. This therapy leads to an improvement of microcirculation and oxygenation device with indication for treatment of all arterial, peripheral ulcers from venous insufficiency, diabetic foot ulcers, surgical and non surgical wounds having difficulty  healing, senile maculopothy degenerative dry form, the diabetic maculopathy.

Very often these injuries are so advanced and of a debilitating nature requiring surgical options to demolish. The combination of ozone bags  and autohemotherapy has allowed many patients to avoid amputation.

At the same time we are witnessing an increased antioxidant capacity by the body with a feeling of well-being and better resistance to stress, this allows us to use autohemotherapy in all pathologies characterized by fatigue, such as fibromyalgia. Unfortunately, this characteristic determined its use  as ‘doping’ in sport, all of those featuring  prolonged exercise, such as  a cycling, swimming, running events.

3. Ozone therapy in closed cavities or through bags: Ozone bag

It ‘s another historical technique that has proved effective in the local treatment of peripheral from venous insufficiency ulcers, diabetic foot ulcers, surgical and non-surgical wounds that  tend not to heal.

Intra-vaginal administration is an important indicator for the treatment of vaginal candidiasis (thrush).

4.Ozone therapy through ozonated water

Ozone is bubbled in demineralized water, the ozone purifies the water from viruses and bacteria (it is in fact used as a disinfectant in swimming pools to reduce the use of chlorine) accumulating within the water it can be used as a disinfectant for  skin lesions (ulcers, wounds, fissures) and mucosal infections by flushing (gastritis Helicobacter pylori infection, vaginal candidiasis).

5. Ozone therapy through ozonated oil

You can use creams and oils that have undergone the ozonation process, exposing it to the  ozone will alter its structure, lading together with the oily substrate. Over time this substrate releases  ozone helping to oxygenate the skin or mucosa on which it is smeared. This way you can treat burns, skin infections, onset of hemorrhoids, ulcers or wounds. Some creams are also typically used  for aesthetic  and anti-aging purposes.

Ozonated oil, characterized by a pungent and unpleasant odor, can be used directly or combined with creamy or perfumed oils. These products are currently selling in all pharmacies, a  pleasant form of  treatment for either, skin  conditions or purely as a beauty  treatment in day and night creams.
